Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving day at our house. It was a small one with just six of us. My family and my mom and brother Jason. We missed you dad hopefully you are having a good time in Qatar and 80 degree weather. It ended up delicious even though I times things a little of and we ended up eating an hour or hour and a half late. Turkey and all the trimmings with pumpkin, lemon meringue, and key lime. Fantastic!

Baby Shower Mountain Cake

Well my brother and his wife are having a baby!!! I didn't know what to make them at first. They just wouldn't appreciate a baby blue cake with rattles and bottles all over it. Hmmmm......What to do???? Well I made baby boy Hunt a mountain all to himself: to play on, climb, ride his bike, 4 wheel, and hike all over, camp on, or anything else he can think of :) After all that is what he will be doing just as soon as he is born :)

The entire cake was rich chocolate with fresh strawberries and cream italian meringue buttercream and fresh strawberry filling. It was really good.
A nice moist and dense cake for carving.
Side view of the cake. Here is the rock cliff he is climbing up. I actually threw away his arm on accident so he is the one-armed climber :)
His little car he is barreling up the mountain in. All the figures are fondant fondant mixed with a little gumpaste.I needed to steam the cake
to get rid of the powdered sugar but I ran out of time :(

Little guy camping at the top in his sweet little red tent.
Sadly I accidentally threw way several parts to the bike. There are several people I am related to who would notice everything I am missing....On the bright side I still think it turned out way cute!!! I loved the texture I added to the tires. I should have made this one with 100% gumpaste as it slumped a little as the day went on.

The one-armed, amazing Hunt!!!! I just loved his beanie he was wearing :)

Sweet sixteen cake for a neighbor. Ironically out of all the pictures I took none turned out very good. These are the best pictures I have and this first one I took from my cell phone!!
At the party. This is fondant with lots of luster dust and glitter dust to make it sparkly and shimmery. I loved how it turned out.

This pictures is a side view of me setting up the cake but I really wanted
to include it because it shows the truest to life colors of the silver on the cake.

This bow is technically edible but wouldn't taste very yummy! It is made from gumpaste. It dries very hard then you paint the pieces and glue them together with royal icing. It was my first bow and I loved how it turned out!

I was intimidated by the wire swirls. I was sure the balls weight would pull the wire through the icing. When I bent the wire I also wasn't sure that they would ever bend without kinking, but they turned out great.

Yellow Calla Lilies Wedding Cake

Chocolate curls covering cheesecake with yellow Calla lilies. Very simple but beautiful. This is fondant coving either chocolate or New York cheesecake. I used yellow and black ribbon and a glass square vase with more calla lilies for the bases of all the cakes.

Modern graphic with orange flowers

7" 8" 9" layers, built up so each layer was about 5 1/2 inches,
which is taller than the normal 4 inches.
It was lemon poppyseed with fresh raspberry filling, and fresh raspberry buttercream.

I loved this simple modern design. Her colors were orange, teal, and brown so
this complemented her decor perfectly. a way to do an autumn wedding with out using pumpkins and leaves.

Close up of the flowers. Flowers were made out of fondant and gumpaste mix. It is hard to see but the leaves were very dark, brownish black with a hint of mossy green to them.

Brown and blue with gumpaste lillies

Vanilla cake with fresh strawberry filling, fresh strawberry buttercream, and chocolate flavored fondant.

It is a stacked cake with 6 inch, 8 inch, and 10 inch cakes. This will serve approximately 100 wedding sized servings.

Hand-made gumpaste flowers painted with a shimmery luster dust. Gumpaste is a sugar clay that is molded into realistic flowers, figures, etc. and dries hard. They are beautiful compliments to any cakes decor.

These are stargazer lilies, calla lilies, and twigs with berries on them. All made by hand.

Orange and pink gerbera daisies

This was for someone's bridal shower. Their colors were orange and pink and they wanted something a little more fun for their shower. I put inspirational words on the cake (hope, faith, joy, love, family)

The gumpaste gerbera daisies. I made them more graphic looking to go with the look of the cake.
One side view of the cake. Showing the words joy and faith.
The other side view of the cake showing words family, hope, love.
